Trucker Hat Bar for a Birthday Party

Trucker Hat Bar

Are you wanting to have birthday party with a trendy activity? I put together a trucker hat bar for my son’s birthday party and it was a huge hit! He is 14 and his friends loved designing their hats. It is the perfect party activity and as an added bonus, it doubles as a party favor!

Putting together a trucker hat bar is easy! You just need some trucker hats in various colours and an assortment of iron-on patches! Everything you need can be easily found on Amazon. I will link the supplies I used below. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you set up your own trucker hat bar that will be the highlight of your party.

Trucker Hat Bar Supplies:

TRUCKER HAT BAR SET-UP

Set-up is easy! Have your hats out on a table or counter so your guests can see the options and choose their favourite. Display your patches in some shallow containers and divided trays so they can see them and dig through all the options. This is the fun part – getting creative with coming up with your own design!

I printed off this fun sign for the hat bar and mounted it on cardstock. I have a link below to the printable.

I also printed off these Trucker Hat Templates and placed them in page protectors so the kids could play around with patch placement before I ironed them on.

Assembling the Designs

I don’t have a hat press so I just used my mini heat press to attach the patches. You can also use a regular iron to iron on the patches. If you find that some aren’t wanting to adhere to the hat well, a trick is to use fabric glue. I had one patch that didn’t want to stick no matter how much I ironed it. I ended up using a dab of permanent fabric glue and it stuck on great! Fabric Glue is also a great option. If you want the kids to stick the patches on themselves, they can do so without using an iron or heat press.

You can also purchase a Hat Press machine if you want to make adhering the patches to your hats really quick and easy. They have come down in price a lot recently, and Amazon has some affordable options. If you plan to make a lot of hats, or host more than one party these are a great option!

Optional – Make your own Patches!

I also designed some of my own patches for the party. My son’s party was a pool party and he wanted some I Pee in Pools and I Pee in Lakes patches for his friends. You can check out my tutorial for DIY patches using heat transfer vinyl. Making your own patches is a great way to have custom options perfect for your party guests!
