DIY Baby Footprint Ornaments – Made with Cricut

These baby footprint ornaments are my new favourite ornaments on our tree! I am going to show you how easy these were to make with my Cricut.

Supplies Needed

Smooth Ornament – either glass, plastic or wood

Vinyl

Cricut Machine (or other cutting machine)

Instructions:

First step is to scan your footprints. (I had a good cry while looking through the baby books….how do they grow up so fast!) I then uploaded the image into Cricut Design Space. I selected simple image and removed the white space so only the footprint remained.

Save your image as a cut file and insert onto the canvas. I added each child’s name to the ornament as well. Cut out your vinyl and apply to your ornament!

A quick, easy keepsake ornament for your tree! Now go dig out those baby books, there is still time before Christmas to whip up these ornaments.

Do I need special vinyl, or will regular craft-vinyl work?

Regular adhesive craft vinyl works fine.

What kind of ornaments can I use as the base?

The key is having a smooth or semi-smooth surface so your vinyl adheres well. Any clear or colored plastic, wood or glass ornaments will work.

Do I need to be super “tech-savvy” or have prior Cricut experience?

As long as you can scan or photograph a footprint and upload it to Cricut Design Space, the steps are quite straightforward.

What if I don’t have my baby’s footprints to scan?

You can use a clipart image of baby footprints or search for one in Cricut Design Space.
